Effective Timestamps

What are effective timestamps? For time-variant entities, you’ll need to specify the Effective Datetime. This particular type of timestamp should be a business driving timestamp. For instance it can be an event timestamp for a transaction, or a timestamp that captures when an attribute was changed. Typically this last situation can apply to cases where you capture status changes on something, like a customer status. This allows Daana to track when changes to the data occurred.

In Daana you can set this for your time-variant entities on both table lever, then the rule applies to all attributes using that source data table unless you specifically map it differently for a specific attribute.

In both cases, you can select a column that represents the effective datetime or define a source expression if the column needs some transformation.

Check out the How Daana Works page for more details on how Daana processes your data.
